THE ExPrEsSiOnS of a CHILD...

The most honest creatures on earth..They say and speak what is clearly on their minds. I have found that during these sessions that play time is a must. I do my best to make a game of it.. Playing and talking to these little ones I am able to capture these priceless expressions. You never really know what you have till you sit and your computer. A capturing a child you have so many expression because children above all creatures are EXPRESSIVE...and I must say I admire their BIG SPIRITS..This location was in a wooded location where I was able to use lots of textures as my backdrop and he seemed to really have enjoyed the fact that he had to the end of this earth to run...

THINGS on my to do list: listening to a webinar from Tamara Lackey. Also found I am really enjoying the work of Chase Jarvis..plan on signing on for his webinar in December. Thinking of purchasing his latest book.

sun and fun..shooting on the beach

I have had to opportunity to do some destinational shooting..It was one busy weekend. I woke up at 2 in the morning to go to the airport..to make my 6 am flight. I knew it was going to be one long day because I knew I would be shooting two sessions as soon as I got off the plane. It being November temperatures in Indiana..I had to layer up to get ready for the warm Florida sun. I did manage to make it through the two shoots..but then the days following was a tight schedule as well because I wanted to make time to go visit with my mother in Jacksonville.

Now to the photo stuff: I had the time of my life shooting as all the families that I shot brought something new and refreshing to this photographers eye. This family for example had brought a surfer theme to the set. I was extremely excited about this shoot because live in Indiana. Surfers come along very little (or not at all is a more correct term). We did alot of driving over the weekend going from location to location..to location...the host family (i will call them > GOD BLESS YOU JEN) escorted me from set to set and assisted me as I needed them. James had even made me coffee in a COLTS coffee to go cup every morning..Not such a bad deal if I say myself..I need a coffee maker (a person to prepare it for me) in my house I am thinking...LOL well thanks to all the wonderful family and friends I met over this great weekend...and I had such a wonderful time living the dream in the sand!!!

A BUSY LIFE

BUSY LIFE...

I have found that life is very busy for me right now..I have a number of things that lay upon my plate of life. This weekend was a traveling weekend for me..in fact I did not sleep in my own bed all weekend long I am now a couch surfer for these shoots. This is Brit..she is a regular and she had decided that it was time to get a port done. I always shoot Brit with a editorial look in mind. We had traveled to several locations that had different lighting. The second shot one was shot in open light and I wanted to shoot high key or equal light. I knew that I wanted to balance out the light where little shadow was apparent because these shots would have more of the "beauty shot" appeal to them. The first and third one was shot near waterfalls (and yes I walked, sat and soaked in water for half of the day!) The third shot was shot in open light..I knew that I would get a nice balanced light and I wanted her to stand out next to this beautiful fall. My apature was low..2.8 if I recall correctly..The first shot I wanted to used selective lighting on her..I had her lay next to the fall where she was in the shade. Selective lighting is obtained by using those manual setting and I underexposed her by 1 or 1/2 of a stop. That way you get a sence of mood and more of a commercial editorial lighting on her..I wanted this image to be sharp but yet soft and I worked that in photoshop and by using an 85 mm fixed lens. I usually always shoot three frames one correctly exposed..one over exposed (for little shadow) and the third frame underexposed (for more of a mood appeal..

have a great day all!!
